Nepali pathshala – Frequently Asked Questions (बारम्बार सोधिने प्रश्नहरु)

Q 1. Is this virtual class or in person? 

   A. This is in person class.  

Q 2. Do I need to be a member of GCNA to enroll my child/ren? 

   A. Yes, you must have an active Family membership in order to enroll your child/ren into the Nepali Class. You must maintain an Active status throughout the school year.

Q 3. Who should I contact to know more about Nepali pathshala?

Q 4. What is the maximum number of students in a class? 

 A.  Currently, There are 56 active students in Nepali Pathshala.

Q 5. Will all the students be in the same Classroom?

A.  No, there will be two different classrooms this year. 

Q 6. When will the class start? 

A. Current session (2023-2024) started from January 8th, 2023, and is extended until May 19th, 2024. New session (2024-2025) will start from August 18th,2024. Please refer to the school calendar on school website.

Q 7. What day and time classes are going to be held? 

A. Every Sunday from 3:00 PM until 4:30 pm. 

Q 8. What is the age limit to join the class?  

A. Five years and up. Students 5 years old must be enrolled in Kindergarten to be eligible to enroll in Nepali Pathshala.

Q 9. What is the class Enrollment process? 

In order to enroll your child to Nepali Pathshala:

A. You must have an active Family membership and your Family membership should remain Active throughout the school year.  

B. You must pay a registration fee during the time of registration.

C. You must agree to our Snacks distribution program.

Q 10. What is the Snacks distribution program?

  1. Every week each parent will take turns to provide snacks for all students. Snacks should include Chips/Crackers and a bottle of Juice. 

Q 11. Can I enroll my child/ren in the middle of the school session?  

A. No, you cannot. Enrollment can be done during the enrollment period. *In case of special enrollment, school will publish the enrollment notice.

Q 12. When will the next registration open? 

A.  Enrollment for next session will start in July 2024. Exact date and time will be announced later.

Q 13. How much do I need to pay for the enrollment? 

A. There is a $100/person registration fee for one school year.  Registration Fee is due at the time of registration. * In case of special enrollment, the registration fee will be communicated based on the total classes left.

Q 14. Is there any monthly tuition fee? 

A. No, there is no monthly tuition fee, but we do appreciate your generosity. If you want to donate, please click the donate button on our website. We use this amount for Nepali classroom rent, stationary, children’s field trip etc.  

Q 15. What does one school year mean? 

A. Our school year starts from January 8th 2023 and will end on May 19th 2024. There will not be school on long weekends and in Summer. Nepali Pathshala follows the same schedule as kids’ regular school.

Q 16. Can my child/ren only participate only on Nepali music and dance class? 

A. No. Your child needs to be in perfect attendance to participate in dance and music class.

Q 17. How can I help Nepali Pathshala? 

A. You can help in many ways, teaching students or donating money or donating snacks only or donating books only. For details, please contact the coordinator of Pathshala.  

Q 18. Do you have a maximum age for students? 

A. No, we don’t have maximum age. 

Q 19. Is there a calendar of Nepali class? 

A. Yes. You can find the Calendar in Nepali Pathshala website. 

Q 20. Will there be a Waiting List?

A. Yes, Waitlist form can be found in Nepali Pathshala website.

Q 21. Is there a course book?

A. Yes, course books will be provided based on the student’s skill level in Nepali language. A notebook will also be provided.

Q 22. Is there a school uniform?

A. This year we will provide a t-shirt to all enrolled students. We encourage all students to wear school t-shirt during Nepali school.
